MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Membership is critical to Rotary's success.  District 5500 and Rotary International have many tools to help clubs with membership recruitment and retention.

HOW TO FIND AVAILABLE TOOLS: Membership tools are found both on the Zone25/26.org website and the Rotary.org site. Your team has access to resources that can help clubs with membership resources, and many listed below can be found on the Membership page of My Rotary:

MEMBERSHIP BEST PRACTICES

Marana Dove-Mountain's Story:

The Marana Dove-Mountain membership had dwindled down to 10 members so they decided to be creatively proactive.

First, they moved their meeting venue from a Retirement Community clubhouse to a pizza restaurant;

Second, they planned a Mixer.  They prepared a flyer inviting people who wanted to be involved in improving their community to join them at the Mixer.  They sent the flyer to homes and businesses within a 5 mile radius of where their club meets, including the local Mayor and Council members;

Third, they made sure all members had a Rotary elevator speech at the ready.  An example:  “We are a bunch of very busy people trying to make the world a better place today than it was yesterday by combining our time, talents, and treasures while having fun doing it together.”

The Mixer attracted 30 attendees who were then invited to a Social at the pizza restaurant where the club highlighted some of their projects and shared some humorous videos about Rotary.  They hope to gain 5 new members from this Plan.
