An enthusiastic audience of more than 170 attended the Installation of our 2017-2018 District Governor, Joe Hentges. On June 25.  The festivities began with a review of the past year by DG Sheryl Christenson.  Sheryl was presented with a “Home Club” banner in appreciation for her year of service.

Ray Naylor presented the promotional video for the October 13-15 District Conference.  The audience enjoyed the Star Wars theme of the video with a special appearance by Harrison Ford Hentges.  Continuing the trend of humor, Wayne General showed a humorous and enlightening photo story of Joe’s life.  Scripted by Lucinda General, PDG from District 5510, Lu had lots of help from Joe’s family.
In presenting Paul Harris Fellowships to sons John and Gary, Joe told them they were joining, “. . . a remarkable company of persons throughout the world dedicated to the ideal of goodwill, peace and understanding.”

Past Rotary International Director Phil Silvers honored Joe by installing him with the Oath of Office.  Following the formal installation, the audience heard about the District goals for the coming year – “the organizational GPS,” as Joe described them.  You can read about the District goals in a separate article.

In closing, our incoming DG emphasized that it is at the club level where Rotarians are making a difference.  Joe noted, “Individuals make dreams happen and stimulate clubs to achieve more.”  He committed the District to work with and for the clubs and their members in an atmosphere of caring and mutual respect.
