El Tour Dedication Recipients:
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
(Bill and Melinda Gates)
Each year, El Tour is dedicated to a special person or entity that has made significant contributions to the bicycling community.  We are proud to announce the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (and them individually) as this year's Dedication Recipients.  Nominated for their generous 2-for-1 match of Rotary PolioPlus monies raised through the years, the Gates’ generosity has made the District 5500 RTEP the largest and most successful fundraising platform for PolioPlus in Rotary history.  A Dedication Dinner is held the Wednesday before El Tour.  We hope you will join us and celebrate these wonderful recipients.

Rotary District 5500 as
Premier Title Sponsor of El Tour?
Rotarian visionary Mike Harris started the Ride to End Polio in conjunction with El Tour de Tucson years ago.  His vision was that one day Rotary would be Premier Title Sponsor of El Tour de Tucson.  As most of you are aware, we had a major fundraising campaign using GoFundMe earlier this year to raise monies for Rotary District 5500 to be Premier Title Sponsor.  We are proud to announce that we raised approximately $20,000 and checks are still coming in.  However, that is no where near the $200,000 price tag Premier Title Sponsor carries.  At this time, we are proposing that Rotary District 5500 still be part of the Premier Title Sponsor as a co- or tri-sponsor.  The Perimeter Bicycling Board, the folks that run El Tour, is being asked to consider this alternative.  Keep your fingers crossed that the Board approves this proposal.  As soon as we know more we will pass the news on to you.  Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign!

Registration for the Indoor El Tour coming soon.
