~CHARLOTTE GATES - PRESIDENT - VALLE VERDE ROTARY CLUB
GET TO KNOW YOUR CLUB LEADERSHIP
I am a native Arizonan, born in Safford Arizona. I was raised in Wellton Arizona and went to Wellton Elementary, Antelope Union High and attended Arizona Western College then moved to Los Angeles Calif.  I returned to Wellton in 1986 and was employed at Antelope Union High School as the District School Secretary for the Superintendent until 2001. During that time, I served as a board member of the Yuma County Library Board for ten years and as a board member for the Wellton Elementary School. I moved to Tucson in 2001 and worked at the Sahuarita School District as Director of Business Services until I retired in 2019.  I served on the Board of the Arizona School Officials and presided as president in 2004. the Arizona School Risk Retention SCIP board as secretary and was chairperson of the Arizona School Board Insurance Trust for the last 4 years of the 15 that I served on the board.
I joined the Valle Verde Rotary club in 2015.  I have served as treasurer for 3 years and president-elect in 2019-20.  I started to serve as president in January 2020 due to the loss of our beloved President Andi Grantham.
In planning for my retirement, I wanted to continue to be active in the community. I looked forward to being able to devote more time to Rotary. The Valle Verde Rotary Club was the answer because it is a very active and fun club.  We love to work on projects and everyone is willing to help.
Being a Rotarian is one of the most important decisions that I have made in my life. It has enabled me the opportunity to make a difference in our community helping those in need with my Valle Verde Rotary family.

We are very excited to announce the new Tucson United Community-Based Interact Club. The Club is currently being organized.
Calling all 12-18-year-old future Rotarians!  The Tucson Sunset Club is excited to announce the formation of a community-based Interact Club.  Founders of the Tucson “United” Interact Club are seeking any interested 12-18-year-olds who wish to be a part of the charter membership.  If you know any students who are not fortunate enough to attend a school that has an established Interact Club, please contact Natasha Wrae at yirnatasha@gmail.com for their inclusion in this momentous opportunity to connect students from schools all over the District.  The Club will hold 2 Zoom meetings per month and will continue to hold hybrid in-person/zoom meetings after the pandemic to accommodate remote students.
