What A Way to Start 2023

Not only did the Rotary International float win the Princess Award at the 2023 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, but our very own DG Anita was riding on the float with RI President Jennifer Jones and other Rotarians.

2023 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards was a HUGE SUCCESS! (Dr. Jennifer Wantz, wantzj@cochise.edu)

Thank you to everyone that supported RYLA 2023. 105 students, 12 adult advisors, and 4 admin team members traveled up to Chapel Rock in Prescott, AZ. 15 leadership modules focusing on ethics and decision making, public speaking, DEI, and so much more were presented over 3 1/2 days. 9 meals were shared, messages of encouragement were written, lifelong friendships were created, bravery was showcased, and snowballs flew. We cannot thank the clubs enough for the support of our future leaders. The world is in good hands. - Dr. Jennifer Wantz, 2023 RYLA Chair.

2022-2023 District Grant Funds are still available (Kristi Halvorson, districtgrants@rotaryd5500.org)
We have $13,000 left in District Grant Funds for clubs to use before May 1, 2023.  Your club needs to be qualified to participate, which requires that 2 members of your club view the Grant Management Seminar.  This year it is easy to do: simply view the 35-minute YouTube video at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv9lWLPGUq8

Once complete, just report to your Club President AND Club President Elect that you’ve viewed the video (no quiz, no test !!); as part of the District Grant Application submission, they’ll be asked to attest that two members of their club have viewed the Seminar.

The 2022-23 District Grant Application can be found on the District Grant’s webpage.  If you have any questions, please e-mail District Grant Chair Kristi Halvorson at kristi@greenskerry.com.

New Year’s Eve Gala Supporting Student Exchange Programs (Cindy Dooling, youthexchangeofficer@rotaryd5500.org)

2022 was such an amazing year for District 5500 and the Youth Exchange Program. With three successful outbound students and 3 successful inbound, it was just the start that the District needed to make the clubs and members aware it’s still an active and extremely beneficial program. Please go to https://portal.clubrunner.ca/50063/Documents/en-ca/2758e8f0-162d-4093-b78d-cff77a54ba8c/1/  for the complete story).
